How to Stay Centered

4 pillars for a centered state of mind

4 pillars for a centered state of mind

Even if you are willing to work hard, it’s not enough. You have to train your body, mind and soul to wake up every single day and welcome both the struggle and the victories. It’s like a muscle you have to keep using — start with light weights, go to medium and eventually reach for the heavy loads.

Over the years I have read and listened to hundreds of accomplished people that we, today, respect and admire for the things they are doing in this world. They all share one common trait, and that is a regular practice. Some call it their rituals, habits, routines. Whichever word you want to use, in essence, it’s a dedicated practice towards an envisioned goal.

They will tell you that the path they have taken was everything but straight, that they rarely knew what they were doing, and that they failed as much as they thrived.

Here is my takeaway from everything I have learned from those giants. It’s a simple graphic that I use every day to observe myself, and see where I can improve to be able to continue doing the work.

These are my 4 pillars of a balanced day, week, month, year, etc. Neglect one of them, and the system fails. That is exactly the challenge of any person aspiring on a journey towards success — you have to figure out on your own the right amount of each pillar you require to sustain a productive and fulfilling day and, eventually, life.
